Ruth Partington, Founder, RP Translate
Chair
ATC Membership Committee
Member ATC Conference Organising Committee

Ruth Partington graduated in 1986 with a degree in Russian and Italian from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London.  She became a part-qualified Chartered Accountant before moving into Customer Service and working for Tom Jones’ sound engineer in the field of Audio Consoles.

She founded RP Translate in 1993 as a part-time enterprise working from home with small children. The Company soon developed into RP Translate Limited, specialising at the time in languages that were traditionally difficult to access electronically, such as Russian and Chinese.  Ruth’s strong linguistic background coupled with desk top publishing experience empowered the Company to educate its clients in this field and develop a strong reputation for handling more complex IT scenarios.

In addition to RP Translate, Ruth is a strong advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility, and is keen to encourage young people whose lack of experience can prevent advancement to achieve their full potential.  She has been an active member of the Young Enterprise Scheme, has served on the board of a national charity and has acted as business mentor for another.

Ruth believes that translation is pivotal to promoting greater understanding between different creeds, cultures and races, and that we should be proud to be part of an industry that, however small the part we feel we play in it, is crucial to the development and enhancement of our world and that of our children.
