The ATC’s Language Industry Awards celebrate the operational excellence of ATC member companies and the language industry professionals behind them.

Awards categories
Company of the Year – Locaria
Judges Notes: “Locaria won because of their holistic approach to developments, with significant improvements in operations, efficiency, HR and client services over the past 12 months. Combined with their niche service offering, this resulted in impressive growth that enabled the company to start a philanthropic programme to give back to the wider community, which the judging panel particularly highlighted as noteworthy.”.
New Member of the Year – Enable2
Judges Notes: “Enable2 won as a result of their use of innovative processes and state-of-the-art technology to achieve impressive growth. The judging panel commended Enable2 for their commitment as a social enterprise, running multilingual community projects that include ensuring accessibility of healthcare, the wellbeing of refugees and the smooth-running of children’s hospital admissions.”.
Project Management Team of the Year – Asian Absolute
Judges Notes: “Asian Absolute’s Tiger Team won because they consistently exceeded the project volume expectations for a team of their size, thanks to their efficiency and extensive experience. Asian Absolute’s team is clearly made up of highly expert and dedicated individuals, and the judges commended them for making their contribution to e-learning courses an outstanding one.”.
Project Manager of the Year – Yasmin Khan
Judges Notes: “Yasmin won for her life-changing achievements of the past 12 months, working with healthcare providers and charities to ensure the success of new initiatives. The judging panel especially commended Yasmin’s skills in coordinating translations and providing interpreting solutions, which have increased Enable2’s efficiencies and even provided the company with a new USP.”.
Sales Person of the Year – Rachel Ali
Judges Notes: “Rachel won because of her exceptional sales achievements over the past 12 months, including contributing to over 74% growth of thebigword’s European team and an astronomical contribution to income. The judging panel wanted to particularly recognise Rachel’s impressive skill set, which extends to inter-departmental coordination and identifying strategic opportunities with new clients and markets.”.
Translator of the Year – Siobhan Gorrie
Judges Notes: “Siobhan won for her outstanding dedication and loyalty in her work. She is not only responsible for producing high-quality translations in her role, she is also mentor, coach and is able to step in for the Managing Director when needed. Siobhan’s willingness, expertise and reliability are stand-out. Apart from Siobhan’s professionalism and linguistic expertise, the judges would especially like to commend her dedication as a mentor to new entrants in the translation profession in LKT’s Translator Academy.”.
Eichner Distinguished Service Award – Larry Gould
As a strong supporter of apprenticeships, Larry has encouraged the company to run one what is now one of the UK’s most successful apprenticeship schemes. Recently, notable contributions to the industry include crucial support of the Association of Translation Companies’ Brexit lobbying.
Larry’s commitment to technological innovation has also led to the creation of Gould Technology Solutions, a company whose state-of-the-art technology is currently used by Silicon Valley tech companies and both British and US government departments. Larry is an inspiration for his achievements over nearly 40 years in the business, and admired for his dedication, enthusiasm and drive.
Awards Dinner
The 2019 Language Industry Awards were celebrated at an exclusive gala dinner aboard the iconic sailing ship Cutty Sark.
Together we toasted the Award nominees and winners, enjoyed great company and raised money for our favourite charity, Translators Without Borders.
Classic disco tunes were played by the ATC’s very own resident DJ, Vice-Chair Dan Peachey.
