The ATC’s Member of the Month in November 2025 is Translators Family, a Poland and Scotland-based language service provider with Ukrainian roots and a distinctly European outlook. Awarded as the ATC’s New Member of the Year for its adaptability, people-centred culture, and focus on quality, Translators Family has built a reputation for reliability and resilience.

We caught up with Founder and Managing Director Oleg Semerikov to discuss the company’s journey from a small family business in Kharkiv to a trusted partner serving clients throughout Europe, and how resilience, teamwork, and technology have shaped its path.

From family business to European success

Translators Family’s story began in Ukraine in 2006, when Oleg and his partner, both professional translators, decided to combine their skills to create something lasting. What started as a small, family-run operation has since grown into a regional language service provider offering translation, localisation, conference interpreting, and desktop publishing to agencies and direct clients across sectors such as marketing, non-profit, e-learning, automotive, legal, and healthcare. With Polish and Ukrainian at the heart of their work, Translators Family also delivers projects in over 50 languages to international organisations.

“In the early years, it really was just the two of us translating and managing projects,” Oleg recalls. “But we were driven by a belief that good translation is not only about linguistic skill, it’s about communication, trust and care. That philosophy has guided us ever since.”

Over time, that family spirit has evolved into a company culture. Today, Translators Family’s team includes experienced managers and linguists based in Poland, Scotland, and Ukraine. Many of them have been with the company for years.

“Our business model is based on continuity and partnership,” says Oleg. “We’ve always valued long-term relationships both with our clients and with the people who make up our team. That stability is part of our DNA.”

Resilience through change

In 2014, faced with the first wave of conflict in Ukraine, we proactively relocated our headquarters from Ukraine to Poland to safeguard our operations and ensure uninterrupted service for our clients. It was a turning point. With its new base inside the EU, Translators Family gained access to tenders, partnerships, and industry networks. It opened doors to projects with the European Parliament, the UN, and other institutions.

Later, the company expanded to the UK market with a representative office in Edinburgh.  The company joined the Association of Translation Companies, deepening its European reach while staying true to its Ukrainian heart.

“Part of our team still lives and works in Ukraine,” Oleg shares. “Their courage and dedication inspire us every day. They remind us that resilience isn’t just about surviving but growing stronger through challenge.”

Three things that define Translators Family

When asked what brought Translators Family to its success, Oleg doesn’t hesitate.
“Three things,” he says. “People, quality, and technology”

People, because everything begins with them. From clients who have trusted the company for nearly two decades to translators and project managers who’ve stayed through every challenge, Translators Family has always been built on relationships.

“We put people first with fairness, personal communication, and meaningful projects. That’s what keeps trust alive.”

Quality, because words matter. Every project is handled with precision and care, following ISO standards for translation and post-editing.

“We don’t just deliver translations. Our clients know they can rely on us for clarity, consistency, and confidence.”

And technology, because innovation drives progress but never replaces people.

“We embrace AI and modern tools,” Oleg explains. “They help us work smarter, but they can’t replicate empathy, creativity, or cultural understanding. That’s where our linguists make the real difference and turn content into connection.”

Together, these three elements define the Translators Family way: human at heart, precise in process, and forward-looking in vision.

Community, connection, and the power of belonging

Joining the ATC in 2024 was a natural next step, a reflection of Translators Family’s belief in professional community and collaboration.

“For us, the ATC represents unity and shared purpose,” Oleg says. “It connects people who believe that our industry is about more than words — it’s about people, culture, and impact.”

At this year’s ATC Awards, when Translators Family received the New Member of the Year title, Oleg shared a moment that captured the company’s spirit.

“At the gala dinner, I had the pleasure of sitting at the table with the managers of one of my long-time clients. This was a company that first entrusted me with their projects back in 2006, when I was a freelancer, and continues to trust Translators Family with their projects today. It felt truly special, especially because we were nominated in the same award category. That moment reminded me of what this industry is really built on. It’s not technology, not speed, but people. People who stay. People who care. People who make words matter.”
