ATC Blog: Revision of ISO 18587 MTPE
A revision of ISO 18587 for the post-editing of machine translation output (MTPE) is underway. Among other changes, the revision acknowledges the much increased use of MTPE and other non-human methods of translation in modern translation workflows. While MT enhances productivity, reduces turnaround time, and lowers costs, human expertise remains indispensable in ensuring quality. The revised standard acknowledges this reality, reinforcing that only qualified post-editors should be involved in MTPE.
