The ATC's Business Services Drop-In introduces you to service providers and partners whose job it…

The ATC is delighted to announce the election of Corinne Saynor Smith of International Translations Limited as its new Chair and James Brown of Comtec Translations as its Vice-Chair.
Corinne Saynor Smith is Director of International Translations Limited and has previously acted as the ATC’s Vice-Chair and, since late 2024, as its Interim Chair following Steve Higgins who has accepted a role outside the language services industry but remains on the ATC’s Council as a Co-Opted Council Member focusing on events.
“I have enjoyed my role and working together with the ATC’s Council and leadership team, first as the ATC’s Vice-Chair and now its Chair. Being an officer of the ATC is a duty I take considerable pride in, especially with my company having been one of the founding members and my father having been Chair,” says Corinne.
“The ATC has undergone significant changes in recent years with modernisation, more interaction with our members, an increasing membership and even new positions such as the Commercial & Collaborations Lead role. I hope to see the ATC continue to develop and grow over the coming years, to offer even more support to our members, to keep up with the latest industry news, and to shout loudly about our industry and its importance to those who don’t understand the significance of what we do. I want to make our members feel that they have a community of peers with whom they can share best practices, advice and friendships, and continue to learn with our events and masterclasses – and will be working to ensure that this is achieved. I am very much looking forward to working with everyone as I undertake this new role and am grateful for all of the Council’s and ATC members’ support.”
James Brown, Head of Commercial at Comtec Translations, is thrilled to be elected by the ATC’s Council as the association’s new Vice-Chair.
“During my two years serving as a Council Member, I have listened, observed and learnt a great deal from my fellow councillors about the strategic objectives of the ATC and, more importantly, how to align these with the priorities of our members,” James explains.
“We’re at a time when the landscape of our industry is changing dramatically, and business is more complex than ever. As Vice-Chair, I will work hard to ensure that our strategy remains firmly focussed on supporting our members where they need us most considering present challenges – retention, transformation and growth. This will include allocating focus and funding to enriching member experience, through regular access to training webinars, industry ‘how to’ guides and collaboration opportunities. I’d like to bring a renewed focus to recruitment of medium and larger LSPs. This will not only fill a current membership gap; I foresee this facilitating greater access for smaller LSPs to best practice and guidance from larger members. In the same vein, building on the success of THRIVE 2024, it’s important to me that our biannual events address current industry challenges, and offer members clear, actionable takeaways to implement in their businesses.”
