The ATC’s Commercial Collaborations Lead forges stronger links between the ATC, its members, and business organisations in the UK, positioning ATC members as the ‘go to experts’ for SMEs expanding into overseas markets.

Meeting the members

Over the summer, the ATC’s Commercial Collaborations Lead Sarah Bawa Mason contacted 121 ATC members, meeting up one-to-one with 37 of them before cementing some key relationships in at the ATC’s one-day conference Stargazing and Language Industry Awards in London in September.
Sarah introduced members to the key aims of the new CCL role and started the process of building regional ‘hubs’ from which to launch ATC messaging to UK exporters in need of language services.

The value of local connections

Sarah was overwhelmed by the warm reception of the CCL proposition by ATC members, learning a great deal about the variety of approaches, areas of expertise and specialist services offered by them. It was instantly clear that the ‘languages for export’ messaging ATC is developing for local business entities hits a sweet spot with many ATC members, and even those not aiming to expand into this market could see the value in boosting recognition of the ATC values and brand among potential clients.

ATC Member representatives from these summer meetings have helped Sarah to build a network of key ATC contacts in regional hubs including the South East, South West, Central, West Midlands and North West regions.

Where do we go from here?

And now it is time to put our shoulders to the wheel!

Partnerships with active ATC members in the South East, South West and West Midlands, including Quality Languages, Wessex Translations, TW Languages, and Comtec Translations are currently working to push ATC messaging on LO-C 30 out to the translation buying audience via local business associations. We are actively seeking speaking opportunities where ATC members can run panels and showcase what good translation services can mean to the bottom line of potential exporters.

Other member company representatives have shared their extensive knowledge and top tips on export and language strategies, and are waiting in the wings for when we expand out to other regions in the spring.
