ATC ISO Expert Wins BSI Award
The ATC’s Treasurer and ISO Standards Expert Carina Balbo has won the British Standards Institution’s Standards Makers Leadership Award in the BSI Impact Awards. The award was granted for “demonstrating exceptional leadership in revitalizing standards-making within the translation and interpreting sector, whilst making a sustained and high-impact contribution to committees spanning translation, artificial intelligence and education.” Thank you Carina for your exceptional drive and initiative in bridging translation, interpreting, AI, and education in developing standards and collaborations that make a difference!
Latest News on ISO 17100 & 18587
The April 2026 EUATC knowledge-sharing webinar, delivered in collaboration with ISO TC 37/SC 5, provided an update on how the two cornerstone standards for the language services industry, ISO 17100 for translation services and ISO 18587 for machine translation post-editing, are evolving. The gist: both standards are undergoing significant transformation to reflect current operational realities, particularly the integration of AI-driven workflows and hybrid production environments.
