The ATC’s Member of the Month in October 2024 is , elanguageworld a regional language vendor specialising in 20+ Indian languages based in India and the UK, with a drive to build credibility and trust through industry collaboration and partnerships.
We caught up with eLanguageWorld’s co-founder and CEO and ATC Council Member Shrushti Chhapia, to talk about entering the UK market, getting involved with the ATC, and fostering growth in emerging markets.
Entering the UK market
Navigating the ever-evolving landscape of the translation industry can be challenging, especially if you’re an international company. For many international language service companies, breaking into the UK market can feel like a formidable challenge – one where visibility, credibility, and local expertise are crucial.
“As an Indian company trying to set foot in the UK market, at eLanguageWorld, we faced this challenge ourselves. We needed a platform to stand out in this niche industry and connect with UK-based clients seeking high-quality language solutions. This is where aligning ourselves with the leading industry association in the UK benefited us. By joining the ATC, we transformed what seemed like an insurmountable barrier into a gateway of opportunities,” says eLanguageWorld CEO Shrushti Chhapia.
For eLanguageWorld, ATC membership has been a key to unlocking access to global partnerships, essential market insights, and critical industry resources.
Getting involved in the ATC
London-based Shrushti has been a member of the ATC’s Council since the spring of 2024.
“Since I founded eLanguageWorld with my sister back in 2013 with Bachelor in Technology (BTech) from India and an MA in Translation from London, each day has presented new challenges and opportunities, enriching my experience as an entrepreneur and language enthusiast. By joining the ATC Council, I aspire to not only contribute my expertise but also to learn from esteemed colleagues and industry leaders. I am eager to play an active role in shaping the future of our profession and advancing the mission of the leading membership association in the UK,” Shrushti explains.
“As I reflect on the evolution of eLanguageWorld, I am inspired to further enhance our industry by actively participating in the ATC Council. I believe that the ATC has the potential to anticipate emerging trends in technology and forge strategic partnerships in this domain. We have been through many technology cycles and with my background in engineering and a keen understanding of technological advancements, I am committed to driving innovation and leveraging technology to propel our industry forward.”
“As a relatively young professional myself, I am passionate about attracting and engaging younger audiences in the language services sector. I envision collaborating with the ATC to develop initiatives and programs that resonate with the next generation of language professionals, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community.”
Emerging markets, emerging opportunities
Emerging countries such as India, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are the next frontier for global language services growth. Corporations large and small are looking to bring their businesses to these countries and are in need to localize their content and operations to local markets.
Since its foundation in 1976, the ATC has been a home for both UK-based and overseas language service companies. For Shrushti and eLanguageWorld, it is imperative that the ATC and its members are able to extend their reach to encompass tier 3 languages in emerging economies, and to provide comprehensive solutions to their clients. In this, Shrushti is dedicated to advocating for greater accessibility and representation, encouraging overseas companies to join the ATC, and empower linguists and language service companies.”
Shrushti Chhapia was in conversation with ATC CEO Raisa McNab.
