Sector Guidance on New Trends

The ATC’s business news, guidance and resources help member companies to stay ahead of the curve by analysing how wider global language services trends impact on their business, and how the UK market is developing.

The ATC keeps a finger on the pulse of new developments by tracking trends through market research and helping members to access appropriate training so that they can upskill their teams to meet future skill demands. Check out our latest news and reports at the bottom of the page!

UK Government Advocacy & Implications for Language Services

The ATC actively monitors the UK Government’s initiatives and legislation for anything that is relevant for language service companies, liaising with CBI (Confederation of British Industry), the Department for Business & Trade’s Professional and Business Services, as well as the DBT’s Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate.

Active Partnerships with Client-Side Commercial and Trade Associations

The ATC works closely with entities such as the UK Export Academy (UKEA), client-side trade associations in different sectors, and the Trade Association Forum (TAF) and their members to promote the value of language services for export and international trade.

With the UKEA alone, we have put our Member Directory before over 600 business leaders, more than 200 of whom at the level of CEO, MD or business owner, resulting in spikes of interest in the ATC website after each of our training sessions.

See more on the Commercial Collaborations page.

Member Benefits to Help your Business

The ATC has built a suite of business support services with partners who understand the language services landscape, so our members don’t have to do the legwork. Our free and partner-provided insurance, finance and HR/tax services are all worth considering, alongside key training offerings such as the ATC-ELIA Project Management Course and the AI Upskilling Course in association with the Magic Beans Agency.

Standards and Certification

Demonstrating alignment with ISO standards, the international standards relating to the language services industry, is a key way to show clients you meet global best practice requirements and quality expectations on the services you provide. ATC members get a substantial discount on ISO Certification with ATC Certification, along with access to the ISO Library, a repository of published ISO standards relevant for language service companies.

Public authorities may require a certified translation of documents not in English, such as civil record certificates (birth, marriage, death certificates), diplomas and transcripts, company registration documents or documentation used in legal proceedings. Use of the ATC Certification Stamp allows you to demonstrate that the translation is of the required quality. The stamp can be used by all Accredited ATC Member companies.

Data Security and Protection Resources

The ATC has curated a collection of Data Security and Protection resources for members, including a free service to check your cyber security, guidance for Small Businesses on Cyber Security, Cyber Essentials Certification and training, the ISO 27001 on Information Security, GDPR and personal data security requirements, and personal data in content for translation.
