Good DTP is invisible. Bad DTP is unforgettable. And most of what decides which one you deliver has already happened before a word is translated.
Nobody loses a client over file preparation. They lose the margin, the schedule, and eventually the will to quote on that account again. A scanned PDF rebuilt by hand, an InDesign package that arrives without links, an e-learning course with the text sitting inside images – this work rarely appears as its own line item, and yet, it influences the cost of everything that follows.
In this Technology Showcase session, Vedaant Aggarwal of DTP Labs takes ATC members through what CAT-ready preparation actually involves across Word, InDesign, PowerPoint, FrameMaker and e-learning formats, and how to assess a file for risk before the estimate goes out rather than after.
Those decisions then determine how painful the other end of the job becomes. The session covers post-translation DTP in the same practical terms: text expansion and reflow, rebuilding InDesign and FrameMaker files page by page, RTL, CJK and Indic typesetting, and PDF accessibility to WCAG and EAA standards. This is the last mile, where a broken table or a missing tag stops being a formatting question and becomes a conversation with the client about deadlines and trust. It draws on 22 years and 125,000+ projects delivered quietly behind UK LSCs, many of them ATC members, under ISO 27001-certified information security.
The second half returns to the cheaper end of file preparation. LingVert, DTP Labs’ self-serve AI document platform, converts PDF to editable Word, including scanned and handwritten source, across 100+ languages with layout and tables intact.
