ATC has been at the forefront in the development of language industry standards since the inception of the European translation services standard, EN 15038, published in 2006. The standard, in whose development ATC experts’ work was instrumental, was the first European standard to set out requirements for the provision of quality services by translation service providers. It charted the best practice processes involved in providing a translation services through commissioning, translation, project management and quality control to delivery, and paved the way for the worldwide standard ISO 17100, published in 2015.

ATC’s ISO Commenting Group continues to actively participate in the development of worldwide LSP standards for translation and interpreting, carrying on the legacy of the association’s standards pioneers.
